Kang hangyeol developed a keen interest in sound during his undergraduate studies. He explored sound for performance, films, and music, taking part in the short film Confession (2020) as a mixing and mastering engineer, and he produced a sound art piece as his graduation exhibition project. His fascination with the electrical signals of audio equipment subsequently led him to investigate brainwave. With support from the Korea Creative Content Agency’s Talent Devlopment Program (2021), he created an AI-based artwork that uses EEG to assess and predict human aesthetic emotions.
He subsequently posed questions about existence, time, and space, focusing on human consciousness and the electrical signals (particularly EEG) that arise from it. Currently at KAIST, on the brink of AGI’s emergence, he is exploring new ontological frontiers. Through this, he aims to produce new perspectives on the complex and subtle overlapping layers—and Total eXperiences—where art, science and technology, and philosophy converge.
In addition, Kang Hangyeol was selected for the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture’s Art Support Program Track A (2021) and the Arts Council Korea’s Arko Young Artist Support Program (2022). He also worked as a coordinator for the 3rd Jeju Biennale (2022).
