Our lab seeks prospective graduate students for research in media art, emerging technologies, and digital aesthetics.
We invite applications (technical creators, creative technicians, and critical interpreters) from candidates with background in:

- Art theory and curatorial practice
- Architecture and spatial design
- BCI/Brain Art
- Creative & Critical AI
- Computer Science

- Data Performance
- Media Art
- Total Experience (VR/XR)
- Other related humanities / social sciences

For PhD applicants:
We are currently recruiting candidates with an interest in media art and a strong record of academic research.
Our lab emphasizes rigorous academic research that engages critically with creative practice and does not accept applicants who plan to focus solely on studio practice.
For PhD applicants, a one-on-one meeting with the prospective advisor is required after the TX Lab interview.

For Master's applicants:
We welcome students committed to developing scholarly research capabilities alongside creative practice.

HOW TO APPLY

process

[TX Lab Internship Recruitment procedure] is a separate process from the [KAIST admission process].
For TX Lab applicants, please send an email to txlab@kaist.ac.kr, with attachments and information below.

Must submit:
1. Applying period (ex. spring semester 2027)
2. CV
3. Cover letter
4. Portfolio (if you have a background related to art, architecture, or design, submission is required. Otherwise, it is highly recommended.)
5. Research based materials (If you do not have a portfolio, please submit a sample writing in its place.)
6. etc.

Suitable applicants will receive a response within 2 weeks for each step.
Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to each candidate.
Selection is based solely on your portfolio and other application materials.
We welcome all applications from those who share our vision.

1. Although applicants passed TX Internship Recruitment process, they must pass the KAIST admission process separately.
2. Without the attachment and information above, the application will not be considered.
3. TX Lab applicants are highly recommended to conduct an internship before applying for the KAIST admission process.
(Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact TX Lab at least 6 months before the KAIST admissions process begins.)
