TX Lab explores the liminal space of the future based on immateriality such as sound and light.
In particular, we are conducting research on Total Experiences in art, architecture, design, and future opera using new technologies such as data, XR , and AI.
Technical Creators
Responsible for designing and visualizing the experience
using new mediums.
Critical Interpreters
Focus on identifying aesthetics in the work based on humanistic and philosophical insights, wrapping up through text.
Creative Technicians
Providing the necessary technical foundation for the artwork.

JOIN OUR LAB
Our lab seeks prospective graduate students for research in media art, emerging technologies, and digital aesthetics.
We invite applications from candidates with backgrounds in:
- Art theory and curatorial practice
- Architecture and spatial design
- Brain-computer interface
- Creative AI and computer science
- Other related humanities / social sciences
For PhD applicants:
We are currently recruiting candidates with an interest in media art and a strong record of academic research.
Our lab emphasizes rigorous academic research that engages critically with creative practice and does not accept applicants who plan to focus solely on studio practice.
For Master's applicants:
We welcome students committed to developing scholarly research capabilities alongside creative practice.
PROCEDURE
TX Lab Recruits applicants through an additional process separate from the KAIST admissions process.
For applicants, please send an email to txlab@kaist.ac.kr, with attachments such as a cover letter, CV, portfolio, etc.
Suitable applicants will receive a response within 5 business days for each step.
We welcome all applications from those who share our vision.
- TX Lab recevies your CV, cover letter, and portfolio via email.
- If the content sent through the e-mail fits our current open position,
we will send you a list of 100 questions and a skill level table for you to fill out in two weeks. - After receiving those filled-out materials, we will conduct an interview for shortlisted applicants.
